Out to Aschau - Pace it right
This Tuesday, we’re heading into the quiet valley of Aschau — a route that avoids the steeper climbs but still delivers plenty of scenic reward.
We’ll start with the familiar roll out past Schwarzsee, through Schloss Münichau, and along the bike path towards Kirchberg. The road begins to rise gently beneath the Gaisberg on our right, then past the Pengelstein 1 gondola on the left — a subtle reminder to make the most of these "summer" rides before ski season returns.
A short descent gives the legs a breather before the final stretch: a steady uphill past the Oberlandhütte brings us to the toll road gate leading to Unterergrund and Labalm. It’s a peaceful finish, watched over by the Dauracher Kogel, towering at 1,773 m. The route back is almost entirely downhill — a chance to enjoy the speed, but also a reminder to stay aware of other road users and keep the group tight.
Our tip: This one’s about rhythm, not power. Keep things smooth through Kirchberg, hold a low, steady pulse, and ease into the final climb with control. It’s a route made for conversation and views — bring your legs, but don’t forget to look up.
