Double Climb Close to Home

This week we’re staying local. With the weather looking unpredictable, we’ve picked a loop that keeps us close to home but still packs a punch — and gives us options to divert if conditions turn.

We’ll roll out past Schwarzsee and warm up along the bike path to Reith, letting the legs settle in before the first proper climb: the lower Astberg plateau. It’s around 100 m of elevation with a steady 9% gradient — just enough to get the heart rate ticking over.

From there, we’ll descend Rerobichl into Oberndorf and reset before tackling the steepest climb of the ride. The Rettenberg ramp has short pinches of 14–15% and totals around 150 m of vertical — a proper mid-ride test. But it’s worth it for the descent back into Reith, with open views of the Großer Rettenstein and Wilder Kaiser.

We’ll finish by spinning the false flat back to Schwarzsee — the perfect stretch to clear out the legs and round off another short but spicy Tuesday ride.

Our tip: With punchy climbs, pacing is key. Keep things controlled early, take the downhills wide and smooth, and ride steady on the final stretch — it’s one for the climbers, but teamwork will make it flow.
